Posted: March 2012
Shepherd Gilmour’s UAE offices continue to grow and increase the variety of work being undertaken. The American University in Sharjah, one of the UAE’s seven emirates is the latest in a long line of education projects.
Two of the current projects for the university are the provision of a new sports pavilion building which will provide seating for around 700 spectators with a cantilever roof shading along with VIP seating and an exclusive roof terrace area. The building also features high quality changing and training facilities.
The other project is a new Women’s Dormitory accommodation building which will greatly enhance the living space for the university’s female students. Both projects are being designed by architects Godwin Austen Johnson.
Shepherd Gilmour’s Director for UAE, Derek Astbury comments, “Since opening our Dubai office in 2007, we have gone from strength to strength in the UAE. Our education experience spans more than 40 years and these two projects for the American University of Sharjah illustrate perfectly how we are using this expertise to grow our Middle East presence.”
